Overview

Grade: 5-

The morning sun was just beginning to kiss the rugged peaks of the Gutenstein Alps as we set off towards the base of 'Schöne Tage', a classic route graded 5- that promised not just a physical challenge but a truly beautiful day. The approach hike, winding through dew-kissed forests and alpine meadows, was invigorating, building a keen anticipation for the limestone rock ahead.

At the foot of the wall, the impressive yet inviting face loomed above us. The climbing on 'Schöne Tage' truly lived up to its name. Each pitch offered varied and highly enjoyable movement – from well-featured slabs demanding delicate footwork to exciting cracks providing solid handholds. The 5- grade struck a perfect balance, providing enough engaging and thought-provoking moves to keep us focused, yet never feeling overly strenuous. Protection was generally good, allowing for fluid and confident climbing.

Reaching the summit, the panorama unfolded before us: rolling green hills, distant majestic peaks, and the immense satisfaction of a climb well executed. We lingered, absorbing the tranquility and the 'beautiful day' that truly lived up to its name. 'Schöne Tage' is a highly recommended route for anyone seeking a delightful and memorable climbing experience in the heart of the Gutenstein Alps.
