Climbing "Der alte Wolf" (7-) on Hohe Wand is a truly rewarding experience. The route, a classic on this iconic Austrian cliff face, presents a good mix of technical climbing and sustained effort. The rock quality is generally excellent, providing solid holds and interesting features. Expect crimps, slopers, and the occasional powerful move. While the grade of 7- might be considered moderate by some, the exposure and sustained nature of the climb require confidence and good stamina. The views from the route are, of course, spectacular, offering panoramic vistas across the surrounding landscape. A must-do for any climber visiting Hohe Wand looking for a memorable and challenging climb.
