Our recent trip to Liftlerfels saw us tackling the intriguing 'Schräger Vogel,' a route graded 7-. Nestled in the picturesque Austrian Alps, Liftlerfels offers a unique climbing experience, and 'Schräger Vogel' perfectly encapsulates its character. The route itself begins with a relatively straightforward approach before quickly ramping up in technicality. The crux, a delicate sequence around a subtle bulge, demanded precise footwork and confident moves. The rock, typical limestone, offered good friction, but the exposure grew with every meter. Reaching the anchors felt incredibly rewarding, with panoramic views over the surrounding valleys. It's a challenging yet immensely enjoyable climb, a true classic for anyone comfortable at the 7- grade. A perfect blend of athletic movement and mental focus, making it a memorable ascent.
