Climbing "Seppuku" (grade 5) on Nadelspitz is a fantastic alpine experience. The route, while not exceptionally difficult, offers sustained and exposed climbing on solid granite. The exposure is definitely a key feature – the airy feeling is constant, and good head for heights is essential. The crux is typically a short, overhanging section that requires some stemming and pulling, but ample holds are available. The views from the summit of Nadelspitz are spectacular, encompassing the surrounding peaks of the Bernese Oberland. Overall, "Seppuku" is a well-protected and rewarding climb that provides a great introduction to alpine rock climbing.
