The Wetterstein Mountains and Mieminger Chain, with their dramatic limestone faces, beckoned. Our objective for the day: 'Boys n'their toys,' a route graded 6. Known for its technical sections and exposed pitches, it promised a proper test. The morning air was crisp as we racked up, the distant Zugspitze already catching the sun.

The first few pitches climbed smoothly, the rock a perfect mix of positive holds and tricky smears. But as the name suggests, 'Boys n'their toys' truly came alive on the mid-route cruxes. Here, a bewildering array of protection options – slings, cams, nuts – became our literal toys. Every move demanded precision, a delicate balance of strength and foresight to place gear effectively and move through the steep, thought-provoking sequences. It wasn't just about pulling hard; it was about the dance with the rock and the gear.

Higher up, the views opened breathtakingly, panoramic vistas of Alpine meadows giving way to jagged peaks. The final pitches, though less technically demanding, offered an exhilarating exposure, a testament to the route's character. Reaching the summit, the sense of accomplishment was immense. We savored the silence, broken only by the occasional gust of wind, before beginning our descent, already planning the next adventure in these magnificent ranges.
