Rope Length: 60m

Climbing "Rehkitz On the Rock" (6-) on Ausweichkogel was a delightful experience, a perfect blend of challenge and pure climbing joy. The name itself, "Roe Deer Kid on the Rock," hinted at the route's character: nimble, graceful, and surprisingly engaging despite its moderate grade. From the start, the rock felt solid, offering good holds and reliable footholds that allowed for a steady, rhythmic ascent. It wasn't about brute force but rather finding the elegant sequence, much like a young deer navigating rocky terrain. The exposure gradually increased, and with each meter gained, the panorama of the surrounding peaks expanded, painted vibrantly under the sun. The crux sections, though rated 6-, demanded precision and thoughtful movement rather than strenuous pulls. There was a particular slabby section that required trust in friction and delicate footwork, followed by a short, enjoyable crack that felt satisfying to jam into. The air was crisp, and the occasional gust of wind served as a reminder of our elevation. Reaching the anchor, the feeling was one of quiet satisfaction. The view from the top of Ausweichkogel was breathtaking, a reward for the modest but thoroughly enjoyable effort. "Rehkitz On the Rock" isn't a headline-grabbing climb, but it's a route that perfectly embodies the pleasure of movement on rock, leaving you refreshed and ready for more.
