The air hung crisp and cool in the Bucklige Welt as I stood at the base of 'Napalm in the Morning'. A route name that promised a bit of an awakening, it certainly lived up to the expectation. The rock was typical Bucklige Welt limestone - pockets, crimps, and a healthy dose of polished sections. The initial moves were a delicate balance of footwork and trusting small holds, demanding precision. A short traverse led to a slightly better rest before tackling the crux. The crux itself involved a powerful pull through an overhanging section, requiring solid core strength and a well-timed foot placement. After the crux, the climbing eased slightly, leading to a satisfying jug haul to the top. The feeling of clipping the chains, overlooking the rolling hills of the Bucklige Welt, made the early morning effort entirely worthwhile. 'Napalm in the Morning' is a classic of the area, offering a rewarding and challenging climb at the 7- grade.
