The Gamskögelgrat (also known as Gamskogelgrat) on Gamskogel is a classic ridge climb, offering a fantastic experience for intermediate climbers. Rated at UIAA grade 3+, it involves a mix of exposed scrambling and more defined climbing sections. The route is renowned for its panoramic views of the surrounding Dachstein massif and other peaks, making it a highly scenic adventure. While not overly technically demanding, sure-footedness and a head for heights are essential due to the exposed nature of the ridge. It's a highly rewarding route, often done as a full-day excursion, culminating in the summit of Gamskogel. Descent typically involves a marked path or scrambling down the opposite side of the peak.
