Susi

The air in Herbstweg was crisp, carrying the scent of damp leaves as we approached the wall. 'Susi,' a classic grade 6, stood before us, its grey limestone offering a challenge that was both inviting and intimidating. My hands powdered with chalk, I embarked on the ascent, finding the initial moves surprisingly delicate, requiring a precise touch. The route unfolded beautifully, a continuous dance between subtle balance and exacting footwork. There was a particular section where the holds seemed to vanish, demanding a careful, exposed traverse – my heart thumping with a thrilling mix of excitement and intense concentration. Each clip felt like a small, personal victory. Reaching the anchors, a profound wave of satisfaction washed over me. The panorama over the golden autumnal forest below was absolutely breathtaking, a fitting reward for the sustained effort. Lowering down, I could still feel the lingering warmth of the rock and the vivid memory of 'Susi' permanently etched into my climbing spirit.
