Overview

Grade: 7

Climbing "Ein Zug geht no" (grade 7) in Hohe Wand was a truly memorable experience. The route name, which translates to "One more move left," perfectly encapsulates the feeling of being constantly challenged right up to the very top. The rock quality on Hohe Wand is superb, providing excellent friction and a variety of holds, from crimps and pockets to satisfying jugs. This particular route followed a mostly vertical line with a few slightly overhanging sections, demanding both good technique and solid endurance. The crux involved a delicate sequence of stemming and powerful pulls on small crimps, requiring precise footwork and focused body positioning. The exposure was significant, adding to the adrenaline rush as you looked down at the stunning views of the surrounding Austrian countryside. Reaching the anchor felt like a real achievement, and the sense of accomplishment was amplified by the beauty of the setting. I would highly recommend "Ein Zug geht no" to any climber comfortable leading 7 who is looking for a challenging and rewarding climb in a breathtaking location.
