The Hochlandkante on the Hohe Wand is a true classic, offering a fantastic multi-pitch climbing experience rated 5- (UIAA). It's renowned for its exposed positions and beautiful, solid limestone. The route elegantly follows an arête, providing varied climbing across slabs, cracks, and some steeper, more athletic sections. The rock quality is generally excellent, offering superb friction and positive holds throughout. Climbing the Hochlandkante is an exhilarating experience; the exposure is palpable, especially on the upper pitches, and the panoramic views across the Hohe Wand plateau and the surrounding Pre-Alps are simply stunning. After topping out, the descent is typically via a combination of abseils and a short walk, leading back to the base of the wall. It's a highly recommended route for climbers looking for a challenging yet immensely rewarding day out in a picturesque alpine setting.
