Overview

Grade: 7

Length: 70m

Climbing a Grade VII route on the Teufelskanzel (Devil's Pulpit) sector of Hohe Wand offers a classic Austrian limestone experience. Rated UIAA VII (roughly French 6a/6a+ or US 5.10b/c), these routes are challenging but highly rewarding for experienced climbers. You can expect sustained, technical climbing on excellent limestone, often involving precise footwork and good finger strength. Many routes on the Teufelskanzelpfeiler (Teufelskanzel Pillar) are vertical to slightly overhanging, demanding endurance. The exposure on the pillar provides stunning views over the Wienerwald and the majestic Schneeberg-Rax massif. While generally well-bolted, some older or less frequented lines might have longer runouts, making a small rack and good route-finding skills beneficial. It's a quintessential Hohe Wand adventure, blending physical demands with breathtaking Alpine vistas.
