Diagonale

Sektor Mopperl beckoned, and our target for the day was the famed 'Diagonale', a classic 5+ route. The name itself hints at its nature – a beautiful, traversing line that cuts across the rock face. As we geared up at the base, the warm rock felt inviting. The first few meters were surprisingly engaging, getting us warmed up. But it was the distinctive diagonal crack and slab system that truly defined the climb. Every move felt intuitive, yet demanded precision, especially on the more exposed sections. The holds were positive, but the foot placements required careful consideration to maintain balance and momentum. Mid-route, a slight bulge presented a small challenge, a quick thought-provoking sequence before the angle eased slightly towards the top. Reaching the anchors, the panoramic view was our immediate reward – a breathtaking vista that made every exertion worthwhile. 'Diagonale' truly lived up to its reputation as a delightful and engaging route, a perfect blend of technicality and exposure without being overwhelming. A proper Mopperl classic!
