Climbing "Traverz skrčenců" (grade 4) in Totemová was a classic slab climbing experience. The route name, which translates roughly to "Traverse of the Crouched Ones," gives a good indication of the style: stemming and careful footwork were crucial. The rock itself offered generally good friction, but maintaining balance while traversing the relatively featureless face required constant attention. There weren't any particularly strenuous moves, but the exposure kept things interesting. A good head for heights and solid slab technique are definitely recommended for a comfortable ascent. The views from Totemová are, as always, rewarding.
