Overview

Grade: 7

Climbing "It's Raining Again" (Grade 7) in the Türnitzer Alps is an experience that etches itself into your memory. The route, aptly named, probably wasn't actually raining *during* my ascent (though knowing the Türnitzer Alps, anything is possible!), but the slick, polished limestone certainly felt like it. It demands impeccable footwork and crimpy finger strength. The initial crux section throws you right into the deep end, requiring delicate balance and precise placements on small holds. The exposure is considerable, adding a mental layer to the physical challenge. After the initial steepness eases slightly, the route continues with sustained, technical climbing. Finding rests is a luxury, and maintaining focus is key. Reaching the anchors provides a huge sense of accomplishment, not just because of the difficulty, but also because of the stunning panoramic views of the surrounding alpine landscape. "It's Raining Again" is a test piece that rewards perseverance and offers a true alpine climbing experience, even if the sun is shining.
