The Bucklige Welt, with its rolling hills and picturesque crags, provided the perfect backdrop for our day's objective: the route 'Herbstleyd,' a classic 5-. A short, scenic approach through golden autumn foliage led us to the base. The crisp air invigorated us as we geared up, the name 'Autumn Lament' feeling almost ironic given the sheer joy of the moment. The initial moves felt friendly, a warm-up for the body, though the rock, typical of the region, offered interesting textures and required attentive footwork. Around midway, a slightly more thought-provoking sequence emerged – not hard, but requiring precise balance and a good sense of grip. Each clip felt like a small victory, the rhythm of movement and breath syncing with the rock. Reaching the anchor, a feeling of quiet satisfaction washed over me. The panoramic view of the 'hilly world' stretched out, bathed in the soft autumn light. 'Herbstleyd,' despite its name, brought only joy – a perfect autumn day spent on vertical rock, a reminder of the simple, profound pleasures of climbing.
