Rope Length: 50m

Climbing "Yellow Submarine" at Engelstein is a powerful and committing experience. The route, a stern 8- (around 5.13a), tackles a steep and often overhanging face. The holds are generally good, but widely spaced, demanding excellent technique and finger strength. The crux is a particularly burly sequence involving a dynamic reach to a shallow pocket, followed by sustained pulling to overcome the overhang. While the movement is relatively straightforward in isolation, the sustained nature of the route and the difficulty of the crux make it a real test of endurance and mental fortitude. Success requires precision, power, and a good dose of determination. The sense of accomplishment upon clipping the chains is immense, a testament to the challenge overcome.
