The 'Wiessner Rossi' (UIAA 6+) on the impressive Fleischbank southeast wall in the Loferer Steinberge is a true alpine classic. This historic route, established by Wiessner and Rossi, dates back to the golden era of mountaineering and offers sustained, varied climbing on excellent limestone. Expect everything from technical friction slabs to challenging cracks and exposed sections. The 6+ grade is continuous and demanding, requiring not only good physical ability but also solid alpine experience and a steady head, as fixed protection can be sparse, necessitating good placement of trad gear. The exposure increases significantly as you ascend, adding to the adventurous character. After conquering this magnificent line, the descent typically involves walking down the back side (often towards the east/northeast) via marked paths, which may include some easy scrambling or a short rappelling section depending on the specific path chosen for the descent from the summit of Fleischbank.
