Climbing the "Geisterkogel - Ostkante" (East Ridge) is a classic alpine rock climb on Geisterkogel mountain. Graded 6- (UIAA), it's a rewarding challenge for experienced climbers. The route typically involves sustained climbing on solid, grippy granite, with enjoyable exposure. Expect varied terrain, from slabs and cracks to small roofs and traverses. Proper alpine gear, including a rope, harness, quickdraws, cams, and potentially nuts, is essential. Good route-finding skills are also important, as the route isn't always obvious. Be prepared for changing weather conditions, as the Geisterkogel is located in a high alpine environment. Successfully summiting the East Ridge offers breathtaking views and a great sense of accomplishment.
