Milzriß

Climbing the 'Milzriß' (UIAA 6-) on Hochstaufen is a quintessential alpine experience. This classic route lives up to its evocative name, often described as feeling like a 'spleen tear' due to its sustained, technical nature. It primarily follows a prominent crack and system of rifts, demanding precise footwork and good jamming or laybacking technique. The limestone of Hochstaufen provides excellent friction, but the exposure is constant, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the Berchtesgaden Alps.
