Overview

Grade: 4

Climbing 'Babka' (Grade 4) in Houbař was a classic, delightful experience. The route, named 'Grandma' or 'Old Woman' in Czech, lives up to its traditional Grade 4 rating: a thoughtful, often slabby ascent with good holds and interesting features. Located in the picturesque Houbař area, the rock itself offers stunning views and a tranquil atmosphere. Each move on Babka required precision and trust in the friction, making it a wonderful challenge for its grade. The exposure grew steadily, leading to a rewarding summit where the surrounding forests stretched out below. A quick rappel brought us back to solid ground, leaving us with a sense of accomplishment and the enduring beauty of the Czech sandstone.
