Overview

Grade: 10-

The jagged peaks of the Kaiser Mountains, rising dramatically from the Tyrolean landscape, are a climber's paradise. Amongst the many challenging routes, 'Helpless' stands out. Graded at 10- (UIAA VII+), it's a test of both physical strength and mental fortitude. The climb begins with a deceptively easy slab, lulling you into a false sense of security. This quickly gives way to steeper, more exposed terrain. Precise footwork is crucial here, as the holds are often small and polished.

The crux of 'Helpless' comes about halfway up. A powerful overhanging section demands a sequence of dynamic moves. Reaching, crimping, and pulling hard are essential to overcome this obstacle. The exposure is significant, adding another layer of pressure. Falling here would be a long swing! After the crux, the climbing eases slightly, but the pump is real. A few more technical moves lead to the anchor, where the views are simply breathtaking. Reflecting on the climb, 'Helpless' is a truly rewarding experience. It demands respect and forces you to push your limits, but the sense of accomplishment upon reaching the top is unparalleled. A must-do for any climber seeking a challenge in the Kaiser Mountains.
