Climbing 'Tour für heisse Tage' (Grade 5) on Kl. Koppenkarstein was a truly memorable experience. True to its name, this classic route lived up to being a 'Tour for hot days,' offering pleasant climbing even when the sun was strong, likely due to its orientation or shaded sections. The route itself presented engaging and varied climbing, typical of the Dachstein region, with solid rock and well-placed protection. There were sections of slabs, cracks, and some exposed traverses that kept the ascent exciting and demanding for a Grade 5. Reaching the summit of Kl. Koppenkarstein rewarded us with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The descent was straightforward, typically involving a marked hiking path or a less technical via ferrata, leading us comfortably back to the valley floor, completing a fulfilling day in the high alpine environment. It's a highly recommended tour for climbers comfortable with the grade, seeking both challenge and stunning scenery.
