Südwandweg

Climbing the Südwandweg (South Face Route) on Kressenberg is a classic multi-pitch experience. Rated UIAA Grade IV, it's a popular choice for climbers looking for an enjoyable, moderate day out or those transitioning to multi-pitch climbing. The route offers pleasant slab and crack climbing on good limestone, often well-equipped with bolts, providing a sense of security while still delivering the exposure and challenge of a longer climb. The views from the route and summit are rewarding, overlooking the picturesque Bavarian landscape.

After reaching the summit, the descent is typically via a straightforward walk-off path on the backside of the mountain, leading comfortably back to the base or parking area. This convenient return makes the Südwandweg a complete and highly satisfying climbing adventure.
