Climbing the "Staumauer Luzzone" is a truly unique and unforgettable experience. This artificial climbing route bolted directly onto the Luzzone dam wall in Switzerland offers a multi-pitch adventure unlike any other. The route, reaching a height of 165 meters, is graded at 7- (UIAA), making it a physically and technically demanding climb. The exposure is significant, with breathtaking views of Lago di Luzzone and the surrounding mountains intensifying the thrill. The rock is artificial concrete, providing a consistently textured surface, but requires precise footwork and thoughtful route-finding. While the bolts are well-spaced, the overall length and sustained difficulty demand good stamina and a cool head. Reaching the top is a rewarding achievement, offering a panoramic vista that makes all the effort worthwhile. Be prepared for a long day, bring plenty of water and snacks, and enjoy the surreal experience of climbing a dam!
