Approaching the route, the steep overhang is immediately apparent. The crux of "Nohy za hlavu" often involves powerful moves on small crimps and pockets, requiring a combination of strength, precision, and body positioning. The name hints at the contortionist-like body positions sometimes necessary to maintain contact and progress. Good footwork is absolutely crucial; hence the name. Each hold is carefully considered, and sequences often require dynamic movements to reach distant holds.
Success on "Nohy za hlavu" requires more than just physical strength. It's a mental game, demanding focus, patience, and the ability to visualize the correct sequence. Finding rests is limited, adding to the sustained difficulty. A successful ascent brings a great sense of accomplishment, confirming mastery over a challenging and aesthetically pleasing line in one of the Czech Republic's prime climbing areas.
