The Nockberge, often overlooked for their more dramatic alpine neighbors, hold a quiet beauty, especially as dawn breaks. And it was precisely into this 'morning glow' that we aimed to climb the classic route 'Morgenröte', graded 5+. Starting early, the rock felt cool under our fingertips, a promise of the adventure ahead. The climbing on 'Morgenröte' is wonderfully varied – slabs demanding delicate footwork, cracks offering solid jams, and a few steeper sections that truly test your power and technique. As we ascended, the sun slowly painted the surrounding peaks in hues of orange and red, truly living up to the route's evocative name. The views across the rolling Nockberge landscape were breathtaking, a serene contrast to the focused exertion on the rock. Each pitch offered its own unique challenge, but the secure protection and excellent rock quality made it a deeply satisfying experience. Reaching the summit, bathed in full morning light, was a moment of pure triumph and tranquility. Climbing 'Morgenröte' isn't just about the physical challenge; it's an immersion into the serene beauty of the Nockberge, a truly memorable dawn ascent.
