Climbing the *Piz Badile - Nordkante* is a classic alpine experience. This iconic ridge, graded at 6- (UIAA) or around 5.8/5.9 (Yosemite), offers a sustained and exposed climb on generally excellent granite. The route snakes its way up the north face of the Piz Badile in the Bregaglia range, presenting climbers with a mix of crack climbing, face climbing, and exposed traverses. While not exceedingly difficult technically, the *Nordkante* demands solid alpine skills, stamina, and good route-finding abilities. Protection is mostly good, although some sections may require careful gear placement. The exposure is significant, with impressive drops on either side of the ridge. Reaching the summit is a rewarding achievement, offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding Alps. The descent, usually via the normal route down the south face, adds to the adventure and requires careful navigation. This climb is a must-do for any aspiring alpine climber looking for a challenging and unforgettable experience.
