Climbing the 'Schüle-Diem / Haslacher-Behringer' route on the Predigtstuhl is a quintessential experience for any climber visiting the Kaisergebirge. Graded at 6+ (UIAA), this multi-pitch route offers a challenging and rewarding ascent up the impressive south face. While not overly long, it packs in sustained difficulty, requiring solid technique and good route-finding skills.
Expect exposed traverses, technical face climbing, and some powerful sequences. The rock is generally excellent, providing good friction, but be prepared for sections with polished holds. Protection is generally good with a mix of bolted belays and opportunities for placing gear. A standard rack of cams and quickdraws should suffice.
Successful completion of 'Schüle-Diem / Haslacher-Behringer' provides a genuine sense of accomplishment and panoramic views from the summit plateau. Remember to check weather conditions beforehand, as the south face can be exposed to sun and wind. Be prepared for a demanding day of climbing in a stunning alpine environment.
