Climbing "...es ist einfach" (6-) in Silvretta is a truly rewarding experience, even though the name suggests otherwise! While graded 6- (UIAA, roughly equivalent to 5.9 in Yosemite Decimal System) indicates a relatively moderate difficulty, the alpine environment of Silvretta adds a layer of complexity that makes the climb anything but simple. The rock is often solid granite, offering excellent friction and a variety of holds, from crimps and edges to pockets and slabs. However, you need to be mindful of route finding, as the path isn't always obvious, and weather can change rapidly at high altitudes. The views are, of course, spectacular, encompassing glaciers, jagged peaks, and pristine alpine lakes. The challenge lies not only in the physical demands of the climbing but also in the mental fortitude required to navigate the exposure and potential hazards of the mountain environment. Careful planning, sound judgment, and a solid understanding of alpine techniques are essential to enjoy this beautiful and ultimately satisfying climb.
