Overview

Grade: 7

Climbing "Ruská ruleta" (grade 7) in Sokolohrad was an experience that perfectly lived up to its name – Russian roulette. The route is characterized by its challenging crux, a sequence of powerful, technical moves on small crimps and slopey holds high above a questionable bolt. Every move felt like a gamble. The initial section, a steep face with positive holds, lulled you into a false sense of security before spitting you into the crux. There's a committing reach to a tiny crimp, followed by a desperate sequence involving a high foot and a smear to maintain balance. The mental game was just as crucial as the physical; doubt crept in with every hesitant hand placement. A successful ascent required not only strength and technique, but also a healthy dose of courage and trust in your ability to commit. The relief at clipping the chains was immense, a feeling of having dodged a bullet, literally and figuratively. Sokolohrad, with its wild beauty and challenging climbs, once again proved to be a place where limits are tested and boundaries are pushed. "Ruská ruleta" is definitely a climb that will stay with me, a stark reminder of the fine line between success and failure in climbing.
