Flattermann

Climbing "Flattermann" in the Wachau/Waldviertel region is a rewarding experience. This route, graded at a solid 6 (UIAA), offers engaging climbing on mostly solid rock. The style is typically face climbing with crimps, edges, and the occasional pocket. Be prepared for a sustained effort as the route generally follows a slightly overhanging line. Good footwork is essential, and clipping can be a bit tricky in places, demanding a bit of forethought. The views from the top are fantastic, offering a panorama of the beautiful Wachau valley or the rugged Waldviertel landscape, depending on the specific crag. Bring at least 10 quickdraws, a rope of at least 60 meters, and be comfortable with committing to the grade. Remember to check the weather conditions beforehand, as the exposed nature of many cliffs in the area can make climbing unpleasant or even dangerous in wet or windy conditions. It's also important to be respectful of the local environment and follow Leave No Trace principles.
