Via Ferrata Podružje is a popular and accessible via ferrata located in Slovenia, near the Italian border. Graded 'C' (sometimes described as B/C), it offers a good introduction to via ferrata climbing for those with some experience or a decent level of fitness. The route typically takes around 2-3 hours to complete.
The climb features a mix of iron rungs, cables, and ladders along a rocky face. While it doesn't have extreme exposure, there are some mildly airy sections and vertical walls that require some arm strength. One of the highlights is a short but fun rope bridge crossing. Good footwear, a via ferrata set, helmet, and gloves are essential. It's generally well-maintained and the views from the top are rewarding, overlooking the surrounding valleys and mountains. The descent is usually a hiking trail, so sturdy hiking shoes are recommended. While not excessively challenging, beginners are advised to go with an experienced climber or guide, especially on crowded days.
