The original line opened in 2018 and climbs just over 200 m beside the Scala stream. Iron rungs cover almost all of it, so it often feels more like climbing a ladder than climbing rock. The highlights are a 12 m suspension bridge strung across the gorge and a footbridge of larch beams over a pool at the foot of a small waterfall. Bergsteigen.com grades it B with plenty of A/B in between. Allow 40 to 45 minutes on the cable and about 20 minutes back down on a path with a handrail.
In 2026 the route gained an upper section, the Via Ferrata Flavio Veronese. A long traverse through the woods turns into an airy ledge with views down the valley, and then a steep yellow wall goes at B/C. The cable runs well to the right of the rungs there, which can pull shorter climbers off balance. Both sections plus the walk down take about 1 h 45 min. The descent from the upper part gets slippery after rain and needs sure feet.
You need a harness, a via ferrata set and a helmet. The route is climbed from spring to autumn.
Discover Val di Scala Ferrata, a Via Ferrata rated B. The cable section spans 2400 meters in length, leading to a peak altitude of 778 meters. Plan for a total adventure time of approximately 1 hour, with the main ferrata ascent taking about 45 minutes.
