The Bärenloch-Steig on the Frauenmauer is an excellent introduction to the world of via ferratas, graded A – making it one of the easiest. This isn't a highly technical climb, but rather a well-secured mountain path that sometimes feels more like a steep hike with added safety features. You'll find sections equipped with steel ropes for security and handholds, and occasionally some short ladders or steps. It's ideal for beginners, families, or those looking for a scenic and less demanding mountain experience. While the technical challenges are minimal, the route offers beautiful views of the surrounding Hochschwab massif and a sense of achievement. Despite its easy grading, proper via ferrata equipment (harness, via ferrata set, helmet) is still highly recommended for safety in this alpine environment.
