Climbing 'Zelený Buran' (7-) in Bajkonur is a unique experience. The crag, perched near the cosmodrome, offers a blend of challenging climbing with a surreal backdrop. 'Zelený Buran' itself is a sustained route, demanding good technique and stamina. The crux often involves navigating a tricky sequence of crimps and underclings, requiring precise footwork and body positioning. Success on this climb is not just a physical accomplishment but also a mental one, as the stark landscape and the echoes of space exploration add a layer of significance to the ascent. Bringing enough chalk is highly recommended, and preparing for the often windy conditions is essential.
