Jakob Schubert sends 'Alphane' (9A) in Chironico

Jakob Schubert has successfully climbed Alphane (9A/V17) in Chironico, Switzerland, marking his first ascent at this extreme bouldering grade. The Austrian climber battled through 22 days of attempts, switching between different movement sequences and enduring challenging conditions.

Shawn Raboutou in 2022 and has since been repeated by elite climbers like Aidan Roberts, Will Bosi, and Simon Lorenzi. The problem consists of a series of powerful and technical moves, requiring a combination of brute strength and precise footwork.

Schubert described the experience as "the biggest battle I ever had with a boulder", facing repeated failures before finally sending the route in December 2023. His achievement adds to an already impressive climbing career, which includes competition victories and cutting-edge ascents in sport climbing.
