Climbing at Prague and Central Bohemia

4937 routes
13 areas
1–11+ grades

Prague and Central Bohemia offer almost 5,000 routes in 13 sub-areas on climbing.place. Most are in the Middle Vltava region, followed by Prague and its surroundings, the Kutná Hora, Kolín and Křivoklát regions, with smaller areas along the Sázava, in the Brdy hills and around Kralupy. Sport climbing on smaller crags and in quarries dominates, with some trad routes and bouldering too. The region has plenty of crags suitable for beginners and families with children.

Rules

  • The ČHS rules for Czech rock areas and the local regional commissions' rules apply.
  • Creating or chipping holds is banned.
  • Chalk is banned or only tolerated, depending on the area.
  • No climbing on wet rock – after rain or in winter this can mean hours or days.
  • Be considerate of the owners of cottages and gardens below the crags.

In nature reserves you may climb only on specifically designated rocks. Check the current status in the ČHS crag database.
