Climbing at Stubai Alps

65 routes
23 areas
2–8+/9- grades

The Stubai Alps south-west of Innsbruck combine glaciated three-thousanders with a valley full of climbing gardens. The Stubaital itself climbs from 982 m to 3,507 m, and around Neustift there are numerous crags; one of the best-known spots is the Sulzenau, where a sport crag and multi-pitch routes lie near the Sulzenau-Alm, next to the "Wilde Wasser" via ferrata. Higher up, towers and peaks such as the Elferturm above Neustift, the Sulzenauturm or the Schmurzwand offer alpine routes, and on the eastern edge the climbing garden at Nösslach is a popular crag.

The valley is reached in about half an hour from Innsbruck via the Brenner motorway exit Schönberg; cable cars such as the Elferbahn shorten some approaches, and huts like the Sulzenauhütte serve as bases. For families there is also the adventure park in Fulpmes, Tyrol's first, opened in 2007. Valley crags are good from spring to autumn, the alpine walls mainly from July to September.

Part of Tyrol, Stubai Alps has 65 routes documented on climbing.place. Routes range from grade 2 to 8+/9-. Explore its 23 crags and sectors below.

Often climbed in July, August, September.
