Climbing at Teplice Rocks

2597 routes
20 areas
1–10 grades

The Teplice Rocks lie right next to Adršpach near Teplice nad Metují and together with it form the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks National Nature Reserve – protected since 1933, covering 17.12 km² and part of the Broumovsko PLA since 1991. While Adršpach is famous for cracks, Teplice is known mainly for face climbing on sandstone towers and walls.

Strict sandstone rules apply: no chalk or metal protection (textile slings only), climbing only on dry rock and in daylight; permission is granted by the Nature Conservation Agency and entry is free with a valid Czech Mountaineering Association card. The Čapí hřeben, Bišík and Bašta sectors are open from 1 May to 31 December, Kaňon, Skalní ostrov and Stráně only from 1 July; local closures for nesting birds also apply.

Part of East Bohemia, Teplice Rocks has 2597 routes documented on climbing.place. Routes range from grade 1 to 10. Explore its 20 crags and sectors below.

Common styles: Rock Climbing, Fixed belay, Textile belay, Vertical wall, Route in shadow.

Rules

The ČHS rules for Bohemian sandstone apply: no chalk, no metal protection (only slings, knots and "UFOs" between the rings) and dry rock only.

National nature reserve – seasonal climbing limits and closures for nesting birds apply. Check dates and permitted rocks in the ČHS crag database.

  • The ČHS rules and those of the local regional climbing commissions apply.
  • Creating or chipping holds is banned.
  • Chalk is banned or only tolerated, depending on the area.
  • No climbing on wet rock – after rain or in winter this can mean hours or days.

Many crags lie in protected areas with seasonal closures. Check the ČHS crag database before you go.
