Climbing "Ufónek" (8-) in Area 51 was a truly memorable experience. The route is known for its sustained power endurance and technical crimping on slightly overhanging rock. From the ground, the line looks deceptively simple, but it quickly reveals its difficulty. The crux involves a series of delicate foot placements and powerful pulls on small crimps to reach a good hold. The mental game is also key, as you have to stay focused and fight through the pump in your forearms. When I finally clipped the chains, a wave of satisfaction washed over me. It was a hard-fought ascent on a classic route in a unique climbing area.
