Rope Length: 60m

The sun was already kissing the upper reaches of the Ausweichkogel as we started our approach. Today's goal: 'Goldene Mitte', a classic grade 6 line that promised both enjoyment and a decent challenge. The air was crisp, hinting at the clear views awaiting us.

The first few meters were a pleasant warm-up, the rock gritty and offering superb friction. We moved smoothly, establishing a rhythm, the only sound the soft clink of gear and the occasional call between us. As we ascended into the route's namesake, the 'Goldene Mitte', the character of the climb subtly shifted. Here, the rock became more intricate, demanding careful foot placement and precise handholds. It wasn't about raw power, but about finding the elegant solution, the 'golden path' through the slightly overhanging flakes and delicate cracks. There was a moment, high above the valley floor, where the exposure truly hit, but the solid rock and the secure placements instilled confidence. The moves flowed, one after another, a delicate dance upwards.

Reaching the summit was a moment of quiet triumph. The panorama was breathtaking – a sea of peaks stretching to the horizon, dotted with patches of snow, bathed in the late morning sun. We savored the silence, the wind whispering tales of the mountains. After a brief rest, we began our descent, a series of satisfying rappels bringing us back to the base, filled with the joy of a perfect climbing day and the memory of that beautiful 'Goldene Mitte'.
