Recently, I had the pleasure of climbing 'Kolik boulí, tolik boulí' (meaning 'As many bumps, as many bumps') in the beautiful Chlumská věžička, a small but charming climbing area in the Czech Republic. The route is graded 4+ (UIAA scale), making it a fun and accessible climb for intermediate climbers like myself.
The route itself is characterized by its name – it follows a line of prominent bumps (or 'boulí' in Czech) on the rock face. The holds are generally good and plentiful, allowing for a relatively relaxed ascent. The crux move, if there is one, might be a slight reach between two of the more spaced-out bumps, requiring good body positioning. However, the overall nature of the climb is consistent and enjoyable.
The rock quality is excellent, and the views from the top of Chlumská věžička are rewarding, offering a panorama of the surrounding countryside. 'Kolik boulí, tolik boulí' is a great choice for a warm-up or a fun afternoon climb in this picturesque setting. It's a reminder that you don't always need extreme difficulty to have a memorable climbing experience. The name itself adds to the charm of the route, making it a quirky and enjoyable challenge.
