Climbing "Schneewittchen" (Snow White) in the Dachstein Mountains is a rewarding experience for any climber comfortable with grade 5+ (UIAA). The route, usually found on one of the Dachstein's south faces, offers a good mix of climbing styles. You can expect varied terrain, from slabs and cracks to steeper sections demanding more power. The rock quality is generally excellent, providing solid holds and good protection opportunities. Be prepared for alpine conditions though. The Dachstein is notorious for its unpredictable weather, and even on a sunny day, conditions can change rapidly. A proper rack of cams and quickdraws is essential, and a rope of at least 60 meters is recommended. The views from the route are spectacular, with panoramic vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Reaching the top after tackling "Schneewittchen" provides a deep sense of accomplishment and a true taste of alpine climbing.
