Climbing the 'Rebitsch-Spiegl-Führe' (Grade VII UIAA) on the Fleischbank East Wall is a true alpine classic and a significant undertaking. First ascended by the legendary Matthias Rebitsch and Sepp Spiegl, this route is a testament to pioneering climbing in the Wilder Kaiser range. Graded VII (UIAA), it presents sustained, technical climbing on steep, exposed limestone. Expect challenging sequences, including demanding finger cracks, slabs, and steep sections like the famous Rebitsch Chimney ('Rebitschkamin') and the Spiegl Slab ('Spieglplatte'). The rock quality is generally excellent, but the route demands precision, good footwork, and solid lead climbing skills. Due to its alpine character, a full rack, good route-finding abilities, and awareness of weather changes are crucial. The exposure is breathtaking, offering stunning views of the surrounding Kaiser mountains. After topping out, the descent typically involves rappelling or walking down via other routes. This climb is not just about the physical challenge but also about experiencing a piece of climbing history in a magnificent setting. It's a highly rewarding climb for experienced mountaineers.
