Our recent ascent of the 'Gittisteig + Lindschi Var.' in the picturesque Gutenstein Alps was a truly delightful experience. This Grade 3 route offers an excellent introduction to alpine climbing, combining manageable technical sections with breathtaking natural beauty. The approach itself winds through serene forests, gradually revealing glimpses of the limestone cliffs. The Gittisteig part is characterized by its well-secured, often exposed sections, providing a real sense of height without excessive difficulty. The 'Lindschi Variation' adds a playful, slightly more direct line, often featuring enjoyable holds and short, engaging rock steps. It's never overly strenuous, but requires sure-footedness and a good head for heights. Throughout the climb, we were rewarded with panoramic views over the rolling hills and charming villages of the Gutenstein region, making every stop a photo opportunity. The descent is typically a pleasant walk, allowing one to reflect on the successful ascent. For anyone looking for an accessible yet rewarding climbing adventure in a beautiful setting, the Gittisteig + Lindschi Var. is highly recommended – a perfect blend of sport and scenery.
