Climbing 'Neu + Cool' (grade 5) on Herbstweg was an absolute autumn delight. The crisp morning air, adorned with the scent of damp earth and fallen leaves, set the perfect stage for what promised to be a classic ascent. Grade 5 might not be a high challenge, but 'Neu + Cool' truly lives up to its name – it's both novel in its movement and incredibly enjoyable. We started up the well-defined crack lines, finding steady handholds and footholds. Each pitch unfolded beautifully, offering varied climbing from slabby sections to short, steeper steps that required precise footwork. The views from higher up were breathtaking, a panorama of fiery reds and golden yellows stretching across the valleys. Reaching the top, the sense of accomplishment, paired with the stunning autumn scenery, was immense. The descent was straightforward, and as we walked back, the golden afternoon sun casting long shadows, we knew we'd chosen the perfect route for a memorable day.
