The Duettsteig on Hohe Wand is a classic and very popular climbing route, graded 5- (UIAA). Located in the stunning Hohe Wand area, it offers a fantastic mix of slab climbing, crack sections, and some more exposed pitches, making it a truly diverse and enjoyable experience. The rock quality is generally excellent, mostly limestone, and the route is well-equipped with bolts, though some traditional placements (cams/nuts) might be useful for extra comfort, especially in the crack sections. The approach involves a relatively short walk from the top car park towards the Wandfuss. Key pitches include the initial slabs, the characteristic 'Duett' crack section which gives the route its name, and the airy upper pitches with superb views. The exposure increases higher up, offering spectacular panoramic views of the surrounding Schneeberg and Rax mountains. Descent is typically via the Leitergrabensteig or Springlessteig, leading conveniently back to the parking area. It's a highly recommended route for climbers comfortable at the grade, offering a full day out with beautiful scenery and engaging climbing.
