Climbing the "Non plus ultra Steig" on Hohe Wand is a thrilling experience for seasoned via ferrata climbers. Rated at a challenging grade 4+, this route is not for beginners. Expect exposed traverses, demanding vertical sections, and minimal rests. The rock is generally good, but some sections can be polished from frequent use. The views from the Steig are absolutely spectacular, encompassing the surrounding landscape of Lower Austria. Proper via ferrata gear, including a helmet, harness, and via ferrata set, is absolutely essential. Strong arms and a good head for heights are also crucial for a safe and enjoyable climb.
