Rope Length: 70m

Climbing "Sturmwolke" (Storm Cloud) on the Hohe Wand is an experience etched into my memory. This route, graded 8- (French scale), presents a formidable challenge, demanding precise footwork, powerful crimping, and unwavering mental fortitude. The rock itself on Hohe Wand is typically compact limestone, often polished smooth in popular areas, making even the seemingly easier sections precarious.

"Sturmwolke" specifically felt like a relentless test. The crux, a sequence of small crimps leading to a precarious undercling, required absolute commitment. Each hold felt insecure, threatening to spit you off into the airy exposure below. Finding the right body position and maintaining tension were critical. Above the crux, the climbing eases slightly, but sustained power and focus were still essential to reach the anchor. The view from the top, however, was worth every ounce of effort. Sprawling landscapes unfolded below, a panoramic reward for conquering the storm cloud.
